Imo, I think TM should ban the guy selling the hard drive too, for selling goods that don't work. A lesson to be learnt, never give out too much personal info, there are always creeps out there who will take advantage when things turn sour, as they sadly, so often do.

Makes you want to flatly refuse pickups.

I was an original member of Trademe. even before they had a message board. When the message boards were activated it was called the Cafe. I gave out inf about my step-children and it was later used against me. A friend started trading and only wanted pickups because she couldnt be bothered withe hassle of posting and her inf got placed online when she had a disagreement with a socalled friewnd.

Ye Gads, Blackpearl! There are some nutters out there. I don't like that sort of thing. No matter who does it. I've seen someone do it in response to having their personal details exposed. I can understand the motivation, but I wouldn't have done it myself. It crosses a boundary which I personally call the NUTBAR boundary. I've seen people's personal info used and twisted against them too. It's unfair and what my Nana would call "common". (I love that term. I don't think common is used enough anymore).

In my case my stepchildrens inf was publicised by someone I didn't even know. I think further to maires message we should all bare in mind that there are other people watching who you might not know but who will stoop to any level to be one of the gang, so to speak.

That is really horrible and I agree with you, I would be careful about what info people put on the net.

That is so true Blackpearl, I have seen that happening frequently. Also the deliberate manipulation by "gang" members to entice people to join them. That could also apply to what has been happening in the political threads around the internet too.

Yeah well, its the danger and the reality of the internet I'm afraid. I'm glad I don't spend much time online anymore. Having a cyber stalker would freak anybody out. I've been very fortunate in my dealings with buyers & sellers on TM, and haven't had any sellers/buyers want to abuse me or threats of assaults.
But yes, I agree - be careful with whom you trust with your personal details. I usually post stuff I don't give a shite about. Anything really personal goes into an email or pm, and to people I KNOW I can trust! lol
Happy surfing people ..... keep safe out there! xoxox
