I hear the sound of distant drums, Far away, far away And if they call for me to come, Then I must go and you must stay
So, Mary, marry me, let's not wait, Let's share all the time we can before it's too late Love me now, for now is all the time there may be, If you love me Mary, Mary, marry me
I hear the sound of bugles blow, Far away, far away And if they call, then I must go, Across the sea, so wild and grey
So, Mary, marry me, let's not wait, Or the distant drums might change our wedding day And love me now, for now is all the time there may be, If you love me, Mary, Mary, marry me

Not quite right, but I used to love this song, so took the liberty ...
Going to the chapel And we're gonna get married Going to the chapel And we're gonna get married
Gee I really love you And we're gonna get married Going to the chapel of love Spring is here..... Theeeeee..... The sky is blue (whoa-ooooo) Birds all sing Like they do Today's the day We'll say "I do" And we'll never be lonely anymore Because we're Going to the chapel And we're gonna get married Going to the chapel And we're gonna get married Gee I really love you And we're gonna get married Going to the chapel of love Bells will ring The sun will shine (whoa-oooooh) I'll be his And he'll be mine We'll love until The end of time And we'll never be lonely anymore Because we're Going to the chapel And we're gonna get married Going to the chapel And we're gonna get married Gee I really love you And we're gonna get married Going to the chapel of love Going to the chapel of love Going to the chapel of love ...

He does sound like Elvis. I had my cousin down for my daughter's 30th (her Godfather) and I spent the weekend listening to him doing all his Elvis renditions of all the golden oldies...it was a hoot.
Here's another I love singing with my girls hope it's not a repeat...
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
One day beneath the lemon tree, my love and I did lie A girl so sweet that when she smiled the stars rose in the sky. We passed that summer lost in love beneath the lemon tree the music of her laughter hid my father's words from me:
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
One day she left without a word. She took away the sun. And in the dark she left behind, I knew what she had done. She'd left me for another, it's a common tale but true. A sadder man but wiser now I sing these words to you:
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat. Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet but the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
(sorry 'eat' would be hard one to find in a lyric)

Lol you could be right with 'eat' Koko, no problems with sweet though ...
Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey Your first sweet kiss thrilled me so Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey I'll never ever let you go
If you wanted that star that shines so brightly To match the stardust in your eye Darling, I would chase that bright star nightly And try to steal it from the sky And I would bring
Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey Your first sweet kiss thrilled me so Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey I'll never ever let you go
If you wanted a dream to keep you smilin' I'd tell the sandman you were blue And I'd ask him to keep that sand a-pilin' Until your dreams had all come true And I would bring
Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey Your first sweet kiss thrilled me so Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey I'll never ever let you go
And if you wanted a love to last forever Darlin' I would send my love your way And my love'd not only last forever But forever and a day And I would bring
Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey Your first sweet kiss thrilled me so Sweets for my sweet, sugar for my honey I'll never ever let you go

Now I know this is not a repeat I'll tell me Ma when I go home, The boy's won't leave the girls alone. They'll pull my hair, they stole my comb, Well that's alright till I go home. [Chorus:] She is handsome. She is pretty. She is the bell of Belfast City. She is courtin' one, two, three. Please won't you tell me, who is she? Albert Mooney say's he loves her. All the boy's are fighting for her. They knock at the door and ring at the bell Sayin' "Oh my true love, are you well"? Out she comes as white as snow, Rings on her fingers and bells on her toes. Oul Jenny Murray say's she'll die If you don't get the fella With the roving eye. Let the wind and the rain and hail blow high And the snow come tumbling from the sky, She's as nice as apple pie. She'll get her own lad by and by. When she gets a lad of her own, She won't tell her Ma when she gets home. Let them all come as they will For it's Albert Mooney she loves still.

if I should leave you please try to rememeber the good times warm days filled with sunshine and just a little bit of rain
and if you look back please try to forget all the bad times lonely blue and sad times and just a little bit of rain
(p.s. PJ Proby was the bestest....look for "When the Masquerade Is Over"

Will look for that one herod.... I've been trying to remember a song that was on the flip side of a 45 of PJ Proby that my sister had many many years ago. It had Mission Bells on one side but I can't remember the other. I've looked on a few sites which list his songs, but that song is still eluding me.

I can`t stand the rain Against my window Bringing back sweet memories I can`t stand the rain Against my window Because here`s not here with me
Hey window pane Do you remember How sweet it used to be When we were together Everything was so grand Now that we`ve parted There`s one sound that I just can`t stand

an oldie from Burton Cummings .. I've still got this on a 45 ;D
Never been this blue Never knew the meaning of a heartache But then again, I've never lost at love before
Somewhere down the road Maybe all these years will find some meaning I just can't think about it now, or live 'em out anymore
Chorus Stand Tall, don't you fall oh, don't go and do something foolish you're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride Stand Tall, don't you fall. donn't go do something you'll regret later you're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride
Never lasted so long Or through so much - or through so many I just can't believe you could throw it all away
Sometimes late at night when there's nothing here except my old piano I'd almost give my hands to make you see my way
Chorus Stand Tall, don't you fall oh, don't go and do something foolish you're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride; You got me down on my knees for ya, mama Stand Tall, don't you fall. donn't go do something you'll regret later you're feeling it like everyone, it's silly human pride

cheating...that was a hard Maire so here's one of Charlie Pride's lyrics
Well I've been from Boston to LA seen Boulder Dam and Frisco Bay Into New York City and Washington Seen Montreal and Saskatchewan and Rhode Island And I've worked in three all night service stations and drove a truck
Take me home my heart is heavy and my feet are sore Take me home I don't wanna roam no more
Well I slept all night in a water trough Had the flu and the croup and the whoopin' cough Had the mumps and the measles and the seven years itch And I can't count the times that I've had a cold and sore throat Not to mention all the times that I've cut my fingers on a sardine can
Take me home...
Well I can just see 'em all now just a gatherin' round Mama's supper table when the sun goes down And my good old pappy when the blessing is said Fillin' up his plate with black eyed peas and side meat And a great big hunk of my dear sweet mama's hot buttered cornbread
Take me home my heart is heavy and my feet are sore Take me home I don't wanna roam no more

Lol .. close enough Koko .. very clever!!
Last night a little dancer came dancin' to my door Last night my little angel came pumpin' on the floor She said, "Come, baby, I got a license for love And if it expires, pray help from above"
Because in the midnight hour, she cried more, more, more With a rebel yell, she cried more, more, more In the midnight hour, babe, more, more, more With a rebel yell, more, more, more
More, more, more
She don't like slavery, she won't sit and beg But when I'm tired and lonely, she sees me to bed What set you free and brought you to me, babe What set you free, I need you here by me
He lives in his own heaven Collects it to go from the 7-11 Well, he's out all night to collect a fare Just so long, just so long it don't mess up his hair
I walked the walls for you babe A thousand miles for you I dried your tears of pain A million times for you I'd sell my soul for you, babe For money to burn for you I'd give you all and have none, babe Just-a just-a just-a just-a to have you here by me

When the night has come And the land is dark And the moon is the only light we'll see No I won't be afraid, no I won't be afraid Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh now now stand by me Stand by me, stand by me
If the sky that we look upon Should tumble and fall And the mountains should crumble to the sea I won't cry, I won't cry, no I won't shed a tear Just as long as you stand, stand by me
And darlin', darlin', stand by me, oh stand by me Stand by me, stand by me, stand by me-e, yeah
Whenever you're in trouble won't you stand by me, oh now now stand by me Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me
Darlin', darlin', stand by me-e, stand by me Oh stand by me, stand by me, stand by me

Hope we haven't had this one ......
Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag And smile, smile, smile. Don't let your joy and laughter hear the snag Smile boys, that's the style What's the use of worrying It never was worth while So, pack up your troubles in your old kit bag And smile, smile, smile.
Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag And smile, smile, smile. Just pucker up and whistle
What's the use of worrying It never was worth while So, pack up your troubles in your old kit bag And smile, smile, smile.

Staying with the Charlie theme hehehe Charlie Chaplin
Smile tho' your heart is aching, Smile Even though it's breaking, When there are clouds in the sky- You'll get by, If you Smile through your fear and sorrow, Smile and maybe tomorrow You'll see the sun come shining through- For you. Light up your face with gladness, Hide ev'ry trace of sadness, Altho' a tear may be ever so near, That's the time you must keep on trying, Smile- What's the use of crying, You'll find that life is still worthwhile, If you just smile.

Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin' Oooh That it won't be long before it's cryin' time
Now they say that absence makes the heart grow fonder (fonder) And that tears are only rain to make love grow Well my love for you could never grow no stronger (stronger) If I lived to be a hundred years old
Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'. Yeah now That it won't be long before it's cryin' time
Now you say you've found someone that you love better (better) That's the way it's happened every time before And as sure as the sun comes up tomorrow ('morrow) Cryin' time will start when you walk out the door
Oh, it's cryin' time again, you're gonna leave me I can see that far away look in your eyes I can tell by the way you hold me darlin'. Alright now That it won't be long before it's cryin' time

What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time?
I say it's 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 6 o'clock It's spooling after dinner 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock 9 o'clock when you're when you're with the boys, 10 o'clock, 11 o'clock
Mr Daddy long legs crawling up to the ceiling The sun don't shine the sun don't shine the sun don't shine at all Mamma Pappa say you should go to school, I don't know what for Now that I've grown up and seen the world and all its lies
What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? Oh oh-oh
Mr Daddy long legs crawling up to the ceiling Has anyone seen the world and the state it's in it's never been this way before Has Anyone who's got the eyes of love in another world Is there anyone who's got the story, anyone who's got that story
What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time?
What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time?
I say it's 1 o'clock, 2 o'clock, 3 o'clock, 4 o'clock, 5 o'clock, 6 o'clock It's spooling spooling spooling after dinner 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock 9 o'clock when you're when you're with the boys
What's the time Mr. Wolf? What's the time? ... (Repeat to fade)

Where the boys are, someone waits for me A smilin' face, a warm embrace, two arms to hold me tenderly Where the boys are, my true love will be He's walkin' down some street in town and I know he's lookin' there for me
In the crowd of a million people I'll find my valentine And then I'll climb to the highest steeple and tell the world he's mine
Till he holds me I wait impatiently Where the boys are, where the boys are Where the boys are, someone waits for me
Till he holds me I wait impatiently Where the boys are, where the boys are Where the boys are, someone waits for me

When you love someone - you'll do anything You'll do all the crazy things that you can't explain You'll shoot the moon - put out the sun When you love someone
You'll deny the truth - believe a lie There'll be times that you'll believe you can really fly But your lonely nights - have just begun When you love someone
When you love someone - you'll feel it deep inside And nothin' else can ever change your mind When you want someone - when you need someone When you need someone...
When you love someone - you'll sacrifice You'd give it everything you got and you won't think twice You'd risk it all - no matter what may come When you love someone You'll shoot the moon - put out the sun When you love someone

Like a long lonely stream I keep runnin' towardas a dream Movin' on, movin' on Like a branch on a tree I keep reachin' to be free Movin' on, movin' on.
'Cause there's a place in the sun Where there's hope for ev'ryone Where my poor restless heart's gotta run. There's a place in the sun And before my life is done Got to find me a place in the sun.
Like an old dusty road I get weary from the load. Movin' on, movin' on Like this tired troubled earth I've been rollin' since my birth Movin' on, movin' on
'Cause there's a place in the sun Where there's hope for ev'ryone Where my poor restless heart's gotta run. There's a place in the sun And before my life is done Got to find me a place in the sun.

The oldies are goodies herod... Here's one not as old, but still good ... CCR Left a good job in the city, Working for The Man every night and day, And I never lost one minute of sleeping, Worrying 'bout the way things might have been. Big wheel keep on turning, Proud Mary keep on burning, Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river. Cleaned a lot of plates in Memphis, Pumped a lot of 'tane down in New Orleans, But I never saw the good side of the city, Until I hitched a ride on a river boat queen. Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river. If you come down to the river, Bet you gonna find some people who live. You don't have to worry 'cause you have no money, People on the river are happy to give. Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river. Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river. Rolling, rolling, rolling on the river.
