in an hour or so.
He went backwards yesterday and since he has just finished a strong dose of antibiotics and is still taking his course of steroids there's not much more we can do for him. He turned 14 on December 1st. We have had him all our married life.
It's so hard to get the timing right but I think we are still ok and he hasn't suffered too much.
Our daughter is on holiday in the South Island for another week but I'm not going to tell her till she gets back.
RIP Bud old man. You've been the best dog ever.

Oh bottlecar - I'm sorry to read that. As an animal owner and pet lover, my heart goes out to you. Rest in Peace Bud. You sound like a fantastic creature. Our cats Bart and Leo that passed away in 07 had been with us before we got married, before we had children and were a big part of our lives. We still feel their absence, but I guess that is a measure of the cool creatures that came to inhabit the space with us.
Take care, bottlecar. My thoughts are with you, your family and Bud.

Thanks. That means a lot to me. He is now buried in the spot he used to love to stand and survey his kingdom - and being on top of a hill it's a big kingdom It's just out from our bedroom so we'll have to think of a suitable plant to do as a memorial.

King Bud. That sounds fitting. We always called Bart, King Bart - mainly because he was the scourge of the neighbourhood!
I like the idea of a plant, bottlecar. Sounds fantastic and something will come to you that will be perfect.

So sorry about your beautiful pet clearly as devoted that you are it is a terrible pain. A plant suggestion if he was like a Prince there is a beautiful David Austin Rose called The Prince beautiful magenta striking in colour, and form very and a unique presence, a suggestion best wishes.
