If your talking about the dvd drive on your computer yes as long as its the same as windows, on a mac I am not sure, but if the drive can be removed then it must be.
All depends on exactly what model it is and how its been put together, If you give me the model number I can look into it for you.

I was curious about your dilemma Koko, so Googled it and learned not to buy dvds while travelling. ;D I don't know if it will help, but this site looks informative lowendmac.com/fishkin/af07/0907.html

I dont think taking it back to the shop would help on the information provided except to say you will need to pay to put a new dvd drive in it. doing the firmware way to kill the region coding can kill the dvd drive if not done right, with the right model firmware, so is very risky just so you know...

Good one Koko ... I'm pleased it's worked out for you I'm only glad it wasn't me who had to deal with it, after reading posts on various forums re this issue, it looked quite complicated & risky(as scruffy said) to fix.

I after reading what scruffy had to say I left the region locked I trust our computer guru more than my fingers. VLC just lets me view DVD's outside the locked region which is a much safer option.
Again thanks you guys
