A New Zealand teenage girl at the centre of an abduction allegation has called talkback radio to say she is safe and will be home on Wednesday.
Julie Davis, 14, has been missing for 11 days and is understood to be travelling with 41-year-old Craig Howard.
Police have expressed grave concerns for the student and issued a warrant for Howard's arrest.
On Tuesday, a girl professing to be Julie called Michael Laws on Radio Live, saying she had run away with Howard because she "didn't want to be at home" but would return to her family on Wednesday.
Julie said she was friends with Howard, "nothing serious".
Asked if anything sexual had happened, Julie giggled and said no.
Julie said she met Howard when he was working at the slide of a hot pools complex when she was there with her family. She stopped and chatted with him.
However, she got into trouble at school and at home when she was seen meeting Howard, and this had prompted her to run away, she said.
They were in the Waikato area in the North Island, she told Laws.
She said she felt bad for worrying her family, "but if I really wanted to go home, I would go home".
"I don't want to go home. I'm quite happy where I am."
She confirmed the pair knew about the warrant for Howard's arrest.
She said she knew Howard had been in trouble with police before, but it did not bother her.
"He's never given me any reason to doubt him, never given me any reason to feel unsafe," she said.
She said Howard was a "nice man".
"I wouldn't run away with him if he wasn't."
Julie said she would definitely return home on Wednesday, and agreed to take Laws' personal mobile number and call him if the situation changed in any way.
Detective Constable Pete Sweeney said on Tuesday morning Julie's parents were very upset, and the extended family was anxious and wanted her home.
Mr Sweeney said Julie was a "typical 14-year old girl" with typical teenage problems.
"She does not have a history of going absent from home. Craig Howard is a 41-year-old man, and at the end of the day I don't believe that Julie's place is with him."
