yeah take a look at an abstract painting get 10 people, you will get 10 different interpretations
For me personally dreams are such a normal common occurance,.that to treat them like they have special message's is kinda Hmmmmm!!
They have a habit of bringing back the plentiful of our daily activities in a somewhat twisted array of events,... depending on our state of health and even mind, at the time of them happening
so I have this idea that it is solely in the eye of the beholder and not in the dream itself

I was once told that your dreams are opposite to what happens in the conscious state. That has been a real relief, as many of my dreams over the years, have been about my children drowning or involved in other dreadful accidents.

I had a very vivid dream when I was 30, I think I've mentioned this before somewhere.
I dreamt that my Grandmother lead to me an old boat with paint peeling off it and took me out to sea in it, it was really rough with waves chopping all around, it was stormy, she nodded to me and I started to wail, and she just kept on nodding, not saying anything, and I kept on wailing.
Anyway the next morning when I woke up I cried and cried and cried all day.
You see I had a very sick baby and I'd lost one already. I was so filled with grief that my grandmother, who died when I was 12 years old, came to help me release my grief.
Its still very vivid in my mind and when I feel sad now I know not to hold it all inside.

A sad dream and even sadder reality Lux It brought to mind a dream I had in the early hours of the day my favourite aunty died. I dreamt my sister rang and said someone had died, I kept asking who was it and ended up yelling at her, which is what woke me up. I didn't find out until my cousin rang later that morning and told me her mum had passed away at around 4.40am .. the same time I woke up from that dream.

Kinda funny with that old saying 'Dreams are Free', not so sure about that now.
I remember one horrible dream I had not long after my father died. I was engaged to be married and I was adamant that my oldest brother was going to give me away. But Samoan aiga's as they are, insisted that this random uncle on my mother's side was to do the honors. That night I dreamt, my dad lying in his coffin, got up and tapped everyone saying 'can't you see me I'm here'. I was the only one that could see him. Anyway the upshot was if couldn't have my brother then I would asked dad's identical twin and that would freak them out.

If you think about it long enough, and hard enough, you learn to decipher your own dreams. Its not that hard. I'm a (what my whanau call it) dream merchant! lol .... no I don't 'buy or sell' dreams, but I have so many of them that its like a supermarket of past, present & future happenings.
Its taken me alot of years to learn to decipher & discern what each psychedelic picture of the surreal means to me, my family, my friends or my life. Whatever the case, it starts & ends with me. Which stands to reason, since I'M the one beseiged with oftentimes very graphic (and yes, I dream in colour AND black/white) and sometimes emotional dream content.
Sometimes I simply write it down as soon as I awake, cos I gotta tell ya that usually by time my 'real time' life catches up with me which is usually about 20mins after I'm awake ... I tend to forget all about the previous nights dream, and details can be sketchy at best, absurd at worst!
And yes, I agree with those who say dreams are a way of manifesting your daily problems & so forth. However, many of my dreams are predictive. In other words, I know when certain people (friends & family) are sick and what parts of their bodies are ailing. Or when a particular person is going thru a 'rough patch' and need a helping hand/reassurance of love etc. And these are often without my (or anyone else) having any previous knowledge of that persons circumstance or condition! ... There have been many many dreams that I've had over the years, that are simply unexplainable. For example; I usually know before anyone else when a family member or friend is dead or dying. Because I dream it.
It has been difficult to live with this 'ability' but I've learned to live with it. I've also had to live with the fact that I can't control or change the way in which the dreams play out. But I have learned how to decipher what dreams mean (to me).
Some dreams are just your run of the mill - silly. Probably your emotions needing to let off some steam.
Then you have the ones that make you wake up crying, heart pounding, hands shaking, body sweating. Scarey, but real. THINK about the dream content, think about how it made you feel, ask yourself what it is you need to know or do about your life or the situation presented. The answers are there within you.
Then you have the other ones ........ well thats enough of a lecture for today folks, I'm tired (lol), might have to go take a nap!!!
