NATIONAL AND WONEY HIDE HAVE SHOWN JUST HOW MUCH THEY CARE ABOUT DUE PROCESS. THE PLOT TO GET RID OF WINNIE MAY HAVE FORCED HIM OUT OF HIS JOB TEMPORARILY BUT HAS FAILED IN ITS LONG TERM DESIGN. NOW LABOUR MUST REBUILD TRUST IN THE LAW ITSELF AFTER IT HAS BEEN SMASHED TO THE GORUND BY THESE CHEAPSKATES.

Sorry, I thought due process was used or should I say abused. I think (being a novice in pols) that the 'process' was as a tool against Winnie. I can not escape the feeling that those responsible the national party debacle at the last elections may also be responsible for this scenario (my conspiracy theory - convenient that this has surfaced now as oppose the the time of allege donation - just a thought)

I remember seeing Winston saying something along the lines of, if he goes down, he'll be taking others with him. I think he was referring to Rodney Hide & co, so hope their closets are skeleton free ;D

due process is a principle dating back from the magnan carta that the state must must respect all of an individuals rights and not just some or most of them. it is obvious that winnie has been denied justice in this witchunt and yesterday was a very black day in the history of New Zealand. the kreeps think they have won but in the end the people will turn on them as they recognise that is they can do this to the foreign minister then what chance does th eindividual have if by andy mischance they should gain power

This is my uneducated novice political take on the Winston saga:
Think back on the 2002 Elections - Labour & National neck & neck, Labour needed Winnie to stay in power. Winston was the swaying vote back in 2002. They also needed the NZ Maori Party because on their own, they wouldn't have enough voting power. Winnie held Lab & Nats by the balls, he knew it, and they knew it. That must've pissed them off. National (Brash) refused to give Winnie the portfolio he wanted, and they weren't the best of chums anyway. I hazzard a guess Winnie thinks even less of blokey dyke Prime Ministers either, but she was willing to give him what he wanted in order for her (& her party) to get what they wanted from him - his party vote.
Astoundingly come the next elections 2005, and although Winston did not win his Electorate (Bob the bleedin builder did!) he still makes it into the Parliamentary arena. The blokey chick offered him minister in her Govt but outside of her cabinet. Gotta love politics aye? And he got to keep his beloved portfolio - Foreign Affairs or somethingorrather? as well as picking up a couple others I can't remember.
Those starchy pants fullas down in the bumble bees nest must've been wondering HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN? You gotta remember too - that back in the lat 90's NZ First was best mates with the Nats. Till some meltdown created a rift between Winnie & the Nats, and he turncoated about 98?
So there's quite a bit of history going on in this saga. National has publicly stated that they won't form a coalition with Peters if they win the next Election, so they are effectively washing their hands of the man. Damage control if I ever saw it. He must have some pretty good shite on alot of those peeps in the House, if Helen backed down & didn't just sack him outright. Not the first time she's done this to a cabinet minister - it won't be the last. So what makes Winnie so special? Hmmmmmmmm?
I THINK: Nats want Winston out! They weren't willing to risk him going into the next Election & winning, altho in my opinion - its highly unlikely. He's like a thorn in their sides (both left & right wing). But he has suffered under the glare of the serious fraud office & other nefarious situations before, he's a fighter, he'll survive. I dont' see how the fact that he got a koha from some rich dude, should make him look like some crook, when most of those politicians are as dodgey as a duck anyway!!!!
Thats all I can think of right now cos my brain is going into hibernation ... so half of it probably wrong, please feel free to correct me. I may not give a shite, but hey I READ ya know! lol

Winston Peters has a "constituency". i.e. a group of people that will vote for him because he espouses certain principles. sure he is a populist and he says some silly things but in the cold grey dawn he does the best he can for the old and the infirm and others who would have no voice and for that he must be supported. and he can tell a joke not like the serious starched underpants mob who have taken over new zealand politics. He is not afraid to say what he means and that is a bonus in this scared frightened world of push polls, focus groups and low sperm count idiotes who think they have a vested interest in chopping down anyone with real b*lls.

NZ First donation scandal deepens
05/09/2008 6:48:02 Police are weighing up whether to launch an investigation into New Zealand First as the donation scandal deepens. Investigations would centre around any breaches of the law through not declaring donations over $10,000 to the Electoral Commission. New Zealand First's auditor has admitted there have been errors in previous declarations. While the Serious Fraud Office is still investigating donations made to the party by the Vela family and Sir Robert Jones and paid through the Spencer Trust, police are looking into a complaint laid by Act leader Rodney Hide who is alleging New Zealand First filed an incorrect, or false party donation return to the Electoral Commission this year. The New Zealand First leader is due to have a showdown with Owen Glenn when the pair front up to Parliament's Privileges Committee next Tuesday. Hmmmmmmmm ... not lookin good!
