McCain concedes defeat. Neat speech talked about historical injustices and admits still has the ability to maim, but urges his followers to work together.

That was very exciting I could imagine the energy circulating in Chicago WOW!

I put on an old ladies voice when my son came in from the pools and said...Do you know in the year of 2008 History was made in America...he was like what are you on about mum...I said I'm just thinking about the things I might talk to my grandchildren about lol...We talked about Martin Luther King JR. And his dream. Also about Black civil rights movement in the USA and what it was like back in the 1950s/60s' for black Americans.

Towards the end of Obama's speech I did get a bit teary eyed...I hope with all my heart that he can deliver the things he has spoken of and that the road ahead of him is not to rough for him to handle. He has a big road ahead thats for sure...oh and I hope his Nanny is looking down on him proudly

Shows how interested I was in the USA elections, I didn't know anything about Obamas win until I saw threads on TM last night.
But in saying that, I was really happy that he did win .. truely a momentous historical event

Forgot to add, I didn't remember about the Melbourne Cup being on either ;D
Usually there are heaps of threads about it, but this time I think our election is taking
over everything else.
