I find the philosophies of some religions in line with my own personal philosophies, but I don't understand the need for exclusiveness.
In regard to the Bible and practicing of spiritulism it seems to me as though someone wants exclusive rights to the practise because frankly the Bible is built on the practice of spiritulism, and is relayed through number? a mediums/ psychics - who wrote the bible? Where did the words come from?

Ok Misi - I think this is why I haven't been near a bible in years. I find some written words in conflict with my spiritualism. I was dragged up a catholic but found all teachings irrespective of religious denomination in conflict to practice such as open racism when the bible teaches that we are all equal in the eyes of god. The whole business of 10% of earnings grates me especially when religious groups demand it. Now I can remember my dear darling mother said there was a section in the bible (I should have paid more attention) that can be used as a horoscope something to do with numbers of the date of birth - numerology comes into play here, should have paid more attention darn it. Im opened to most religious practise and respect them as individual choice, but I am also aware of the various psychic practises. Apologies for any offence. absolutely none taken kokonutwoman (" I find some written words in conflict with my spiritualism. I was dragged up a catholic but found all teachings irrespective of religious denomination in conflict to practice such as open racism when the bible teaches that we are all equal in the eyes of god") well you have made a start in realising the equality of man in gods sight. the fact that you have seen it practised different is not any fault of the bible,.just people. ("The whole business of 10% of earnings grates me especially when religious groups demand it.") The Mosaic Law was abolished on the basis of Jesus’ death, so monetary tithing is not a requirement according to the bible . tho some still practice it, It comes down to whatever our circumstances allow ("Now I can remember my dear darling mother said there was a section in the bible (I should have paid more attention) that can be used as a horoscope something to do with numbers of the date of birth - numerology comes into play here, should have paid more attention darn it". ) Your mum was in line with thousands if not millions of others who did the same thing ,.. Some are interested in numerology because they want to make their life predictable. however the Bible makes it plain that the details of human life cant be mapped out in advance. “The swift do not have the race, nor the mighty ones the battle, nor do the wise also have the food, nor do the understanding ones also have the riches, nor do even those having knowledge have the favor; because time and unforeseen occurrence befall them all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11) One objection that numerologists have been unable to overcome is that different cultures use different calendars. For example, what if someone lives where the Chinese calendar is used? September 11, 2001. According to the Chinese calendar, that was the 24th day of the 7th month of the 18th year of the 78th cycle. The Julian calendar would express the same date as August 29, 2001. According to the Muslim calendar, it was 22 Jumada II 1422, while the Hebrew calendar had it as 23 Elul 5761. How could there be numerical significance to a date that is expressed in so many ways? Another factor: Languages often have unique spellings of names. the letters contained in the English name John have a numerological value of 2, but the letters in the Spanish spelling of the same name—Juan—have a value of 1. and to be able to use codes to find hidden meassages in the bible as bieng of world wide significance,....all bibles would have to be written excactly word for word,.

Where did the words come from? you are echoing what so many out there think ,..one day a man I called on, persistently offered me a book about enlightenment from a hindu point of view, which was nice of him ,..I showed him my bible and told him it is all I need for my enlightenment, to which he referred to the,“closedminded commercial we always hear being played continously at us“,. I told him that my bible is made up of 66 different books written by 40 different writers, As varied as fishermen, .lawyers, doctors, Kings,. .shepherds, singers, Prophets, Court official governors, Tax collector, a prime minister, builders, rich men quite a library don’t you think? He looked at me in surprise and put his book down on the table asked me to come in and sit down, During which time I told him,. He needs to get a bag put all his pamphlets into it and go from house to house like we do and go find his own disciples like we do !! He laughed but got the point, He asked me to go back to see him again, So again,..The bible is made up of 66 different little books written by 40 different writers, As varied as fishermen, .lawyers, doctors, Kings,. .shepherds, singers, Prophets, Court official governors, Tax collector, a prime minister, builders, rich men , it is unique in that wrapped up inside its pages are four books written about one man from 4 peoples points of view Jesus Christ,.. all the books were inspired by Jehovah,..like listening to radio waves I spose,. nowhere else is such a library ever to be found quite like the bible ,..

hello precious,...a question? have you yourself read the bible ? can you elaborate on your history sources?,...please. Yes I have read the bible Misi and there is no need to get on the defence. Maybe you should research a little instead of taking a myth book at face value. its fine,.... not bieng defensive at all ,..as for research into this little book of myths, thank you that is excellent advice it is truly worthy of being researched because it has influenced so many millions if not billions worldwide,.. All The words Jesus Christ spoke in this book, amounted to two hours and a bit,..but the influence those words have had on the world has been nothing less than phenomenal,.. there is no other being in heaven and on earth that has demanded so much attention as this man,..from christian and non christian alike,.. not bad for a Myth,.

and from me too misi, its very interesting that so many in the bible had the ability to connect spiritually to a higher being, something not seen, nor heard in the normal range of senses. Did God talk to those people? did they talk to God?

Great reading this thread!
Well done Misi (I'm sure we know each other from another past life somewhere in cyber heaven?! ie: tm or oldfriends mb's for sure!)
Anyway, in essence I agree with your views.
And for the record, I was raised as hellfire and brimstone HEATHEN! The local pub a place of worship where much singing and clapping can be heard well into the night, the mighty crates your pew, the frothy beer your communion wine, and a packet of ETA chippies your humble wafer. Oh, to hear to the sermons of the drunk & unwieldy!
I've seen both sides of this debate. I've lived it. As I think many, many people have. At the end we all decide which path we want to follow, and that which we wish to believe. Choice.
Yes, I have read the Bible. Several times actually.
I threw away my tarot cards, stopped reading peoples palms, and decided to TRUST God with my life. And its not as easy as it sounds, but thats it in a nutshell I guess.
