Wellington, New Zealand A New Zealand reptile named Henry has become a dad at age 111. Henry is a tuatara, a lizard-like reptile that is a descendant of the dinosaurs and is on the endangered species list.
The tuatara hatchlings were born at the Southland Museum and Art Gallery. The gallery’s curator says these new hatchlings will help boost the genetic diversity of this endangered species. Henry was over seventy years old when he arrived at the museum and was not a suitable for breeding due to a cancerous tumor, which was removed in 2002.
Only about 50,000 Tuatara exist, and almost all live in sanctuaries where they are protected from predators. Some Tuatara can live for well over 150 years.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand (Jan. 26) - A captive reptile in New Zealand has unexpectedly become a father at the ripe old age of 111 after receiving treatment for a cancer that made him hostile toward prospective mates. The centenarian tuatara, named Henry, was thought well past the mating game until he was caught canoodling with a female named Mildred last March — a consummation that resulted in 11 babies being hatched on Monday.

Being on the endangered list it's great when these 'unexpected' arrivals pop up (or out in this case). They are if I remember correctly, the only living reptile or animal (not sure which it is) directly related to the dinosaur. Saw that on Better Homes & Gardens last week ;D
