Fantastic. I'm trying to encourage one of my gal-pals and her husband to move there. They both love the place. It's their magical place and I'm like ... go on. Do it! Move there and live in your paradise.
We want to move to Whangaparoa. That's my magical place. We spent a great couple of weeks up there and I really liked the place. It's close enough to Auckland, but out of the rat race.

My son went to BIG DAY OUT recently, him & another mate - made arrangements to stay with one of their best friends who usually lives here at Welcome Bay with his mother during the year, and goes home to his father and family during the holidays to Auckland.
Son comes back totally thoroughly enjoyed himself and calmly says: "Oh yeah Mum my mate lives on Waiheke Island!"
HOLY SMOKE!!! I was like: gee they must be rich to live there? And he cool as cucumber "Yeah mum, met all his cousins and every house we went to had FABULOUS (his words not mine) VIEWS! Big flash houses, but it was great fun mum, still had an awesome time at the concert, and was a bit of a mission getting back to the Island after the concert cos we kept missing the buses back into town but we got back eventually.
My son was more interested in raving on about the concert, than the island!!!!
That same kid who's family lives on Waiheke Island is at our house nearly every weekend! lol ...
I've seen lots of programs on life at Waiheke Island - I'd love to visit the place one day. I'd take heaps of photos for sure!

I went over there in the early 70s and it wasn't the 'elite' place it is now. If I remember correctly, it was mainly farmland and very quiet and peaceful.

Nga Mihi People Wow Waiheke Island - have very good friends who have lived the Island life for years - we often head over to holiday with them - Awesome whanau they are - must be something to do with them begin Coasties ;D ;D Each time we head over we see the changes - Play ground for the Rich - Thankfully some of the older Waiheke remain - Magical place - and thats the part still untouched by developers - I love that area of Waiheke Island Those who havent had the pleasure of holidaying on Waiheke Island put it on your "Things To Do List" - Trust me its well worth it
