Hmmmm. I was on email at varsity, but didn't surf the net much. This was about 1995. Like you Bottlecar, got into it around 1998. Hubby was on it early. I was a bit of a computer novice, but he insisted on me getting one! Hahaha. It's his fault ... We've been through approximately 10 comps (desktops and laptops). We upgrade quite regularly and are back to a desktop, but going to purchase another laptop when the old one finally gives out.

I can't remember when we bought our first computer, but it was a Commodore 64? Vaguely remember it was good for playing games on and that was about all. The next was in the mid 1990s running Windows for Workgroups[?] and we had attempts (not very successful) of going onto bulletin boards. Our next comp was bought in 2000 and that was the first proper internet access. Only bought one other computer since then (the present one) .. plus the pc (older son) and laptop (younger son), better not forget them ;D

Didn't have internet with the first computer either, used to spend hours playing this real cool game...captain something or other... an adventure games with hidden keys and killer bugs. Was lots of fun. My daughter requested a pink laptop for Christmas she got told to go get a job .

Lol great response Lux!!
I'm trying to remember some of the games we played .. there was one with games, hackey sack, roller blading etc .. California Games or something? I used to like the ones where you had to type in commands to Hugo. Then along came Doom, Wolfenstein etc. Spent many hours playing them ;D My favourites though were the platform games and I'd still play them if I could be bothered downloading them.

We bought our first computer back in '96, the memory was so much less compared to now. In fact, the MP3 or Ipods you buy now have much more memory than that first computer we bought. We thought we were the bees knees at the time. This is our 2nd computer since that time and apparently this one is already a dinosaur according to the computer technician who worked on it awhile ago. The technology increases so rapidly you cannot keep up fast enough these days.

Argh scruffy I played Doom once and got violently ill, had to lay down, motion sickness! Ugh same thing happened when I played spyro with the kids on Play Station.
Cailz I think they're basically outdated before you buy them new, I read somewhere technology is advanced 30 years beyond the technology that is actually available to you.
Speaking of being ripped off like that, I bought my girl some thin lizzy make-up for Christmas and now they've bought out a new foundation one, I thought thin lizzy was originally marketed as the all in one make up...blardy rude! LoL

I saw them advertising the Thin Lizzy in a tube (foundation) now? It's supposed to cover practically anything. I thought the 6-in-1 powder was all you needed?
