was pretty bloody awful to watch. It just blows me away that the standards committee who set the regulations is run by pig farmers.
Hello? Money making vrs Happy Pigs...well we all know whos gonna win that fight.
I bet supply and demand will drop though at least for a few weeks. Which might not benefit the pigs much but will help families who are struggling during the recession...hey whats happening with the recession?

My dad being a butcher for all those years said the animals go into a state of TERROR. They can smell death first. Then they HEAR it, so he believed that if he and the boys could get the job done as FAST as possible all the better. There is definitely an art to how to kill the beast within seconds of grabbing it. They kept their knives so SHARP by grinding the edges down on steel blocks til they were RAZOR SHARP and dipped them in boiling water all the time. So sharp they couldn't even feel pain when they cut their own hands. The boys would grab the beast and slit the throat of the bobbies and sheep within seconds. Larger beasts were stunned with electric prod first and then killed. Dad was horrified when the halal style of slaughter arrived (bleeding an animal to death very slowly).

Mum never bought or ate veal because of her childhood memories of the calves screaming when they were taken from their mums. (She grew up on a farm)
Every time there is another distressing animal issue, I seriously consider becoming a vegetarian.

I've walked straight past the pork in the supermarket for 2 weeks. Last time I bought a large pkt of pork loin chops, they were off .. I can still smell that foul stench every time I think of it.
