Still learning the basics, its the strumming that stuffs me because I always revert to the guitar strumming doh!

dont worry about that
I could play leads long before I could strum properly
the thing is you have to be able to NAME the chords. well you dont HAVE to but if you can then you can name the scale and play it against the harmonic progression and hey presto you doing it!
then you can swap the rhythm and the melody
fun for ever
