ive been with vodafone since day one...i resigned my mobile call and data plans about a year ago,for another 24 months. recently i sold my house and moved less than 5 k's away to a place called "ashley". i cant get good reception here,ie most calls usually drop off half way through.i have bulk free minutes that i like to use to ring cell phones...now i have to use a landline at 70 odd cents per minutes... vf reckon i will have to pay 400 odd dollars to get out of the contract. is it my fault that they can no longer provide a reliable service? at the moment,im paying them over $200 a month for mobile data and call plans and they dont even work when im at home. what do you guys think? ?

Tell them you'll pay up as soon as they provide the service? How can you pay for something you aren't getting? I'd seek legal advice may be through citizens advice or consumer affairs or something. You shouldn't have to pay to break a contract when they can't provide there end of the contract which is to give you service. So what if you've moved your not a mind reader unless theres some clause which states clearly that if you move you are still liable to pay for the service, even if Voda is not serviceable in the area you move to? I'd contact experts of the legal variety, the greedy bastards make enough without giving you the run around. My thoughts.

Yeah true lux, no service no money and i'd give them a bill for all the paid calls you've made. They kinda remind me of IRD hard to part with their dosh, unreasonable but on your arse when they want it the $'s...they just all pigs

One of the many reasons I'd never have a contract with a mobile company. Stick to prepay and you don't pay if there is no service. Sorry for you though punga and can only reiterate what Lux and Toerag have said, plus ... Do you still have the contract and does it say anything about their contract to provide you with a (viable)service? It would be interesting to see if that is in the contract and they try to use your change of address as a means of avoiding producing that service. The purpose of a mobile, is so that it can be used while "mobile", so a static address should not apply. If you haven't got your contract, you may be able to find Vodafones Terms and Conditions on their website. Good luck with whatever you try and if you have TelstraClear down that way, investigate their services.

im more than happy with the plans and would really lke to continue them.my only problem,is that neither my data or call plans are reliable at my new house. i want vodafone to fix the problem, however, they reckon that they need more people in my area to complain...yeah right...i can name 3 people already living here that just switched to telecom instead of whinging to vf. i also have an 0800 number attached to my plan...what use is that for my new business now,if the punters cant even get through to me?

I moaned a couple of 6 weeks ago was promised a credit and I'm still waitin waitin waitin...... yep...i quite often get stuck with a person that is very very hard to understand. anyhow, they have reduced my monthly bill by over half and let me cancel my mobile data for $150 rather than the 400,early cancelation fee that i was meant to pay.not bad considering they gave me $900 phone and $400 worth of vodem when i resigned the plan...

That's good news punga yeah thanks maire, however,it would be nice if they actually fixed the problem instead.they talk along the lines of "we havent had enough complaints yet" lol the people i know that used vodafone down here, didnt complain, they just switched to telecom.vf has to be very careful now cos telescum are almost up with the play and probably as good as vf,as far as their phones and mobile network goe.

Is that the new network Telecom are constantly advertising? yep...it does what vf has been doing for years, except,it appears to possibly be doing it better.ie heaps better coverage.you can use the same phones on telecom or vf now.you just need to swaps sim cards.although,i think most later model vf phones have to be unlocked by vf to work on telecoms new xt network.

I should imagine vf won't want to be losing too many customers to them, so they could possibly be upgrading their service (hopefully) in the near future.
