Thank God Koko, what a devastating tragedy. I was a bit like you, didn't really know how bad it was.
My sister called and her sister in law has died. So sad for the family, they have been through a lot lately and she was a lovely lady.

Very happy to hear your family is all safe and well koko but sad for bottlecar and the terrible grief and loss some families are feeling at this time. I haven't been able to contact my good friend who has lots of family in Samoa so I'm just hoping they made it through okay too. Arohanui.

hello koko Im so pleased to know your members of your ainga are safe, We had a passing in auckland of our 90 yr old hamoa uncle, and many came over from the island. The funeral was on monday and none of them are able to go back to the island, The airport is not in use there is a lot of panic setting in and a feeling of utter hopelessness for not being able to be over there with loved ones we have all been collecting money for them to take back with them such a devastating situation for everyone.

How very sad for them (and you & your whanau Misi) .. I hope they clear up and get the airport open asap for those who so desperately want to return to family and friends.

yes Ive just been told they have gone home ,..they will be pleased but none of the areas they belonged to are affected
yesterday there were many of us dodo's and dopeys who shot down to the beach to await the tsunami ,,..the mentality is to be wondered at eh
we heard that most of those who died in samoa didnt really heed the warning so didnt take the precautionary measures to go somewhere safe I would imagine it would be difficult to realize how serious the situation is especially not realising where it would strike first unforseen circumstances befall all of us

That is really good of them punga .. wonder if the others will make the same offer? It's not like they can't afford to.
Misi that would have been a huge relief for your rellies.

Our work place did that also gave employees free phone calls to Samoa on Wednesday, that is good of the phone services. I wonder whether Air NZ is offering discounts - some of those travelling have suffered terrible lose of family. I couldn't imagine it - going home to all that devastation not only having to bury your family members but have no home to speak of. Prayers for everyone.

Yesterday was really strange on campus. Normally you can't see the Pasefika students anywhere (they're usually hiding) but the Samoan students were in their bright green hoodie and very glum. Lots of tears but they had comfort in numbers. A Few had lost family members but they are strong and have gone home

Thanks misi, my heart has only just stopped screaming,
Only God sat at this tribal council and decided who left the island, Our survivors become out heros Our dead become our strength Our brilliance is in our resilience You are every reason why I am proud to be Samoan
