Good luck with that ... I've always thought you'd either have to be pretty sure of your market, or a gambler ........ (to do $1 reserves on expensive items).

(to do $1 reserves on expensive items). thankyou maire.im definitely not sure of the market and i dont gamble lol. the auction is for a gate and ive sold hundreds of them on tm in the past, however, this gate is nothing like all the other ones ive sold as its a decorative one and not much good to anyone unless they like the "look" of it. im not an artist and that gate is my one and only attempt at anything resembling art. i made it to use up some of the short bits of steel that i had lying around, hence it only really owes me for my time. it went up to $45 this morning

more than usual,20 watchers. i think it will go up.i dont see much point in trading,if im not making heaps.even if it only goes for 50,then it made me about 25 bucks an hour cos it didnt take long to make and the steel was mainly just useless offcuts. www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=246094172the last time i listed it,it was $95 S=R=BN...lotsa watchers and views, but no sale...when i first listed it,i think it was for 200 or 250 and someone was keen if id ship up north.i declined cos i wanted to meet the buyer and find out what they really thought of it and that would give me an idea of whether one off, decorative gates are worth making more of.

That's a cool gate punga .. might have been tempted myself if I lived down south and had a driveway half the size it is ;D Good that it sold and to an appreciative buyer. You should look around the internet and find some designs you like and try them out, as it seems by the interest shown, there could be a market for more decorative designs.

thankyou maire. i hated it.it sat around for months.lol.im not an artist and dont really want to go down that road.ive sold hundreds or gates on tm and have yet to get designs from anywhere except my customers or out of my own head. from day one,i vowed id never make a decorative gate...well...i did one and it sat here for yonks and i got bugger all for it,so i doubt ill be doing it again in the near future...

Fair enough, it's no use doing it if your hearts not in it. At least now you know for sure it's not for you
