Just received the sad news of Sir Eddies passing. I was fortunate to me this chap in the early 80's. Back then It was a dream come true as he was a childhood idol.

He was pretty cool wasn't he. Did a lot for the sherpa people, helped build and fund a hospital and school I believe. RIP.

I'm gutted by this. Sir Ed was someone I really admired. He really was a legend - in the good old fashioned sense of the word. RIP, Ta Ed.

My boys have been asking soooooooooo much about him since they heard it on the news. I was shocked that my oldest (11) hadnt heard of him at school, but I guess thats the Poms for ya!! Truly a legend - a real kiwi bloke!

I think he captured the spirit of adventure and in a way we came forever to associate NZ with that spirit Ringdove
