Firefighters are hot under the collar to learn that half the money from their charity calendar for child cancer is being used to fund sports trips for a small group of their colleagues. Read on > www.stuff.co.nz/4373751a10.html...this made me swear! ...Fire Service corporate communications manager Scott Sargentina said the "iconic" calendar had been around for 18 years. "All someone had to do was ask and we would have supplied that information."

That's disgusting only $1 out of $10 goes to the charity. That is the reason I never give to charities over the phone, the same situation applies to them .. they only get a small portion of the money, the rest goes to the company who do the phoning. I now tell them, go out into the streets and supermarkets, malls etc and I will & do donate. I can appreciate that some of the money is needed for costs, but taking a large proportion for sports trips for their colleagues? No wonder they are angry.

That really sucks!!!
The only time I give to charity is when they come collecting at the doors, for charities that I know really help out. I don't do any that send out folders and such. Some of them are rude enough to tell you how much you should donate (ie a minimum deposit) they go straight into the rubbish bin. If I want to donate I will give an amount that I can miss and not what they dictate I should give.

Its a triple whammy isn't it, not only exploiting children with cancer and people who believe their donation is going to charity but also ripping off there own...unbelievable.
