Kissed the girls and made them cry. When the boys came out to play, Georgie Porgie ran away.
My old Mother Goose book doesn't do history, but I'll take a guess it was about one of the King Georges of England in the 18th century. He was a flirt and a coward?

Naughty "Georgie Porgie"of the Stuart era! The origins of the lyrics to "Georgie Porgie" are English and refer to the courtier George Villiers, 1st duke of Duke of Buckingham (1592–1628). King James I took Villiers as his lover and nicknamed him "Steenie" (a reference to St. Stephen whom in the Bible describes as having the "face of an angel"). Villier's good looks also appealed to the ladies and his highly suspect morals were much in question!

1439... Alot of the old cathedrals being achitectically designed back in the 12th centrury. All named Notre Dame..interesting for one who doesn't visit them. Unless you are on about another one I looked at which was 1868...it took 23years to complete from when one of the architects died. There was alot of interesting history there too. Such a wake up for the brain so early.
