Is anyone on the list interested in African-American literature? I've been looking into some early African-American writings and find them fascinating. For example, writers associated with the Harlem Renaissance are so good! Which brings me to the immediate purpose of this posting. Has anyone heard of a play called Pugy which was staged in Chicago in 1929? I came across a reference to it in a letter written by Sarojini Naidu to an Indian journal at about that time. She predicted that the play would be as influential as Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin. Yet, oddly enough, I find nothing about Pugy on the net. Would anyone on the list be able to enlighten me? Na Ringdove
