A close friend of mine who lives in Auckland was visiting India recently. Before coming over he asked me if I wanted anything from there. I didnt need anything in particular but just happened to mention that he might look around for a good book on the NZ Constitution/Bill of Rights. Later he told me he couldnt locate any! And even some Auckland lawyers he contacted had no clue! Can anyone recommend a good book on the subject which I could tell him about? Ringdove

New Zealand doesn't have a formal Constitution like the USA as such rather we have an accrual of precedent in legal situations.
For your consideration I suggest you get a book on the Treaty Of Waitangi some from Glaudia Orange are good and re the NZ Bill of Rights a book by Sir Geoffrey Palmer as he was the author of the legislation and has a take on constitutional law you made find useful and with the other fuse the ideas together.

Thank you Bingbong, I'll follow this up.
England doesnt have a formal Constitution either but they do have a "conceptual" Constitution, a sort of legal understanding of how England is governed, how the judicial system is organised, how elections are to be conducted etc which together constitutes a sort of "Constitution" and of course they have books on the subject. If I'm not mistaken Bagehot wrote a famous book on the English Constitution (although they still dont actually have a Constitution) as early as in the 19th Century!
