I purchased a Linksys Wireless- G broadband router yesterday set it up according to the instructions. All went well until it tried to connect to the internet. All necessary lights were on, on both the original and the new router. The only stumbling block was one part of the setup where there was a list of of which DHCP was one. That was highlighted and there was a note saying if it was changed, it could disrupt the functioning of the internet (or something similar), so I left it. Maybe it needed to be changed but the only other one I recognised was PPP??. After reading the notation on changing it, I decided better leave it until I got some advice. I really should have written it all down, but I was in a hurry at the time and just discontinued the installation as it was going nowhere. As it was I couldn't connect to the internet afterwards and had to do a scanreg/restore. My computer is running Windows 98SE and does come within the Minimum requirements needed, but I did notice on the router box it has Norton Internet security and the pdf files included on the cd are Win 2000 or XP only. I don't feel this has any relevance to the problem I'm having with connection, but am not certain. I feel (hopefully) there is some minor adjustment I need to make somewhere and hope you can advise me scruffy or anyone who knows about these things. TIA.

first sorry for late reply hav been away on holiday and getting things sorted after getting back.
Now If I have this right, your trying to run two routers, which I take have built in modems for the internet, let me know if wrong?.
if right there is the problem, as you cant hav two tryin to give the same broandband connection, one would sort the connection and the other serve as the wireless access point, or just hav the new wlan router doing it all, and unplug the old router.
let me know if this helps or i hav assumed to much.

Sorry I forgot to come back in and let you know I took it back. The router was for networking and/or for wireless connection for my sons laptop and hopefully the other sons desktop pc in his bedroom. I decided I would wait until we upgrade our computer then I might try it again. Cheers anyway Scruffy and I hope you had an enjoyable holiday.
