Well today I bit the bulletI removed vista and installed XP on my new laptop.
I finally had enuff of that damn vista hogging my computer and not letting me do what I wanted. yesterday almost half the day was spent on waiting for the os to get off *under heavy load* so I could do something like browse a web page, and I was not doing anything that would have put it under any kind of load.
over the last two months it had gradually started slowing down, and getting hotter and the fans working overtime to try and keep it cooler.
Today I noticed the heat was not as bad and the fans were not working as hard.
Another big thing was the builtin web cam, would only work for ten minutes at a time and then lock up, and take a reboot to work again this now works without fault for over half an hour on my first test.I have decided that I do not like Vista at all, and would place it at the same level as Windows ME ie Total Crap, but dats my opinion aye.

That's how I feel about XP after using 98SE for years. Why do Microsoft do that, make every new Windows version more frustrating? It's not really as if it's better or easier to use, the only point to them seems to be each successive version is more prone to attack, so more robust firewalls and other protection programs are needed to combat that. I don't have that problem with 98SE, so why can't MS use that system and update around that? Probably a ridiculous thought as I know little about programming, it just seems logical to me.

Well XP Lasted about six months and then I went back to Vista
now have five computers running vista
the service pack released for vista has stopped most of the annoying problems that were there - and its a lots more friendly and responsive to use.
Though I still try out a few flavors of Linux regularly
but I must say I have grown to like vista now.
