I have a few, but the names and dates will have to be changed in order to protect the identities ... I once had a friend that over-indulged at a bar in the inner part of London city. We were asked to pick him up and take him home by Tube. We lived in the East End of London and by the time we got to one of the stops on the way home, our friend was green around the gills. I can't remember the exact tube stop, but it had an automated announcement of "mind the gap". At this tube stop, our friend lurched out and in between the recorded announcement threw up in what he thought was an enclosed rubbish bin, but it only had a grill for a bottom ... I will never forget the sound of (in best Plummy English) "Mind the gap" punctuated by "blerrrrrk" and "gleeeerrrrp" from my friend! And then the horror as the contents of his stomach started to dribble out of the bin and onto the platform. Not good. It's funny now, but then ... we all wanted to run and hide.

Another one ... there were bomb scares in London when we were there. This is about 15 years ago now. My flatmates arrived home from work looking frazzled. What had happened was there had been a bomb scare and the tube was evacuated. They had had to walk for hours in the dark along the lines to the next tube stop - only to be told there was a bomb scare there when they arrived and they'd have to go back because the emergency had been lifted at the one they'd just walked from. They did a documentary on this not so long ago! Lol. It's not funny, but it kind of is!

heh heh heh I too have had a few mishaps on the tube lol, usually in a drunken state as well!! I remember going to a pub in Earls Court with 2 of the customers from the pub I worked in! When we decided it was time to go home, we legged it across the road, and they jumped the railings leading to the station..................................me.........well I tried to climb over and got my boot stuck and ended up straddled on this damned railing!! Soooooooo embarrassing! I had to let my leg/foot out of the boot jump down and then put my boot on again!! Meanwhile these 2 'supposed' friends were inside the station almost rolling on the ground laughing!

Wow! We lived in Wapping, then Leyton and Leytonstone. I really liked living in the East End of London. I miss the UK sometimes. We'll go back one day soon for a holiday. Friends of ours are taking jobs in Aberdeen, Scotland. They leave in July. We'll probably go see them when they're over there.

I loved London soooooo much!! But pre-kids only! When we came back to Uk in 98 it was a big NO as we had a 2 year old! We are now in Portsmouth, but only an hour from London.

Nice one. We haven't been with kids either and I have to say, it would be kind of nightmarish! My sister-in-law is over in London. Her and her hubby have two kids. Littlies too. They're just wanting to do a few things and then come home. I just couldn't imagine raising our kids in London. Too hectic.
Friends of ours have moved back from London to here. They have a kid and decided they wanted a different life-style for him, so came back.

Friends of mine lived in London for about six years. Both their children were born there, and they moved back to NZ about 6 years ago when they were 2 and 5. I don't think they really had many problems living there though. It was more wanting the children to go to school in NZ.

arrived in athens bus station in the middle of the night so we bedded down on the benches, only to be woken up by the locals in the morning wanting to sit down while waiting for their bus.. arrived on one of the greek islands late so camped out on the beach only to have the police come round at 7am with loud halers waking us up.. had an arguement with a greek campsite owner and he got a metal bar out and threaten to bash us with it..

We arrived on one of the Greek Isles in the early hours of the morning. Staggered off the ferry, got out the sleeping bags and crashed on the beach. We woke up with the sun steaming on us and ... surrounded by naked people sunbathing. Lol.
