Stayed up half the night as I had to bring my daughter to the airport. Their flight left at 05.15 a.m. We left home at just after 1 a.m. and got there at about 2.30. They were in perfect time for checking in, we had a cup of coffee and then I drove back home, I was back at quarter to five.
She is going with my youngest brother, his girlfriend and her daughter (also 16).
She will be staying on Crete, near (C)Hersonissos, about half an hour away from the airport, and very near the beach. 10 days of sun, sea and beach, loooooovely, lol.
I wouldn't mind a bit of that myself, still, only 4 weeks till we go off to the south of France for our summer holidays.

Yes it does, and I am quite jealous, lol.
She got the trip from her oma (my mother) as she has done so well this year with her exams etc. It was a tad premature though as we haven't got the exam results yet and there's a slight possibility she may have to resit maths. We'll know for sure next week - fingers crossed!!

Ooooohhhh yes, lol.
The first day she rang us, a bit of homesickness there I think, lol.
Last night they went to a beach party, bbq etc. Sounds like it was going to be a blast.
Great weather, nice pool if a bit small, but the beach is very near as well.
She sent me an sms today to order me onto msn tonight as there is an internet cafe nearby and she might come online and chat.

She's a lucky girl Yollie and aren't grandmas great
The cold weather has finally arrived here and the fire
has been going for the last few days & nights, so
Crete would go down really well.
From travel programs I've seen it looks like a beautiful place
for a summer holiday. Hope she has a great time.

She's already over half of her holiday! I'm picking her up from the airport on Sunday night.
Sounds like she is having a wonderful time, and she said she has a great tan!! lol
Tomorrow we will know the results of her final exams. Hopefully she will have passed all of them!

me first!!! lol. (actually not too keen on the stuff, lol) At any rate she's probably not allowed to bring it as she is only 16.
I hope she has taken some nice pictures, maybe I can show some on here (if she'll let me that is, lol). Scenic pics shouldn't be a problem I guess.

lol no probably not, hahaha.
Well she is home, I picked her up from the airport last night. Her flight was 10 minutes early (!!!) so they were down at 11.50 p.m. Got her bagage and came out half an hour later, so it wasn't too bad. We were home at 2 a.m. (yawn, lol)
I've got the day off work so I could sleep in and guess what... I was up at 8, lol. Miss M is still fast asleep, she was pretty pooped (all partied out I guess)

It sure is Maire! She had a couple of her friends over yesterday and went off to sleep at her best friends place last night!!! lol. They missed each other that much.
They are now making plans for a fun night out to celebrate passing their exams. And then they will be off on the holiday jobs or holidays etc. Off to college in late August, so they have quite a long stretch ahead of them!
We have to put her pics on the computer yet, and then I will select a few to post here.

Mum was worried for nothing, as we do!! 
Photos of hot sunny places will be good right now considering I am sitting here with multi layers of clothes on to keep warm.
