Hi, I am new to this message board and have a interest in the Maori flag, i was offended by it not being flown on the Auckland Harbour Bridge, what are your thoughts?

I wasn't offended as the Auckland Harbour bridge holds no significance for me, The Tino Rangatiratanga flag flies proudly in many parts of the Country in more significant locations in my opinion. Though the disallowing of it to fly alongside the NZ flag - is offensive.

Yes, but i think of it as cultural genocide even it was the Harbour Bridge, that it was Transit NZ.

Maori culture is not dependent on the Tino Rangatiratanga flag, though its meaning is of great significance, it is a symbol of something that can be maintained in every one of us. We don't need it to be justified, nor do we need mainstream NZ to recognise us through the symbol. We move forward regardless.

Its a free board that is hosted by proboards, I'm the administrator because I started the board, there are many thousands of boards hosted by proboards all over the world each being started with specific interest groups in mind. I started this board really as a place for friends to gather from all over the world to share different perspectives on life, passions, opinions, daily life experiences and just general chit chat. I hope you enjoy your experience here. |

You'll see other names beside some of the topic headers those members look after the topic boards that their usernames appear by. No one gets paid...unfortunately lol.

If you go into functions you'll find a thread about Image hosting, that will help you if you want to change our avatar. I could look for some butterfly avatars when I have a bit of time and add them to the avatar list which you can see under 'profile' must get to bed now though work in the morn. Po Marie |
