From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Bunny Boiler is a pejorative term for an obsessive and dangerous individual, most commonly referring to a jilted lover who is stalking the person who has spurned her or him. The term is normally used for a woman. The phrase derives from the 1987 film Fatal Attraction, about a woman who begins stalking a man with whom she had a one-night stand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bugger I've obviously missed some of the online gossip who is stalking who these days? A part from the rabids in the (s)pit who are your more common stalker - stalking anyone for no reason and especially not anyone they've had a relationship with no matter how flimsy - because lets face it who'd bother with the morons...who's been playing with who then? Did Glen Close boil a bunny I vaguely remember the movie, but not sure whether she did or not ? In your face! ;D

A big swollen "thumbs down" to my own stupidity. After piercing a finger wound that had turned septic (pus) I accidentally jabbed my thumb with the (infected) needle. Within two or three hours it started swelling and I got feverish. Had to go to the afterhours medical centre and due to go back today for a check. If it's not better I have to have it drained at the hospital. This I do not want, but it doesn't look good or feel as if the anti biotics have had much of an affect. This happened Christmas eve, so spoiled Christmas for my family. I have spent most of the last three days lying on the couch. We do plan to have a late Christmas celebration when my daughter comes over late January, so that "thumbs up" will cancel out this one

Not a pleasant injury at all sparrow, but I've got the all clear from the "thumbs up" doctor yesterday .. healing and no need for plastic surgeon involvement It made me think about how awful it must have been for those suffering such injuries before the advent of penicillin. The pressure & pain of swelling & infection on a large scale, must have been horrific. So a big "thumbs up" to Alexander Fleming for discovering penicillin and Howard Florey and Ernst Chain for isolating and making it into a usable medicine.

BIG THUMBS DOWN to a cyfs worker and a child's guardian. The child 12, staying with another extended family member because the guardian decided that she didn't want this child anymore however she still wanted the money. OGM is that what a child is worth now - freaking money. I'm mad as hell because this woman is playing with this child's life he was almost saved but she stuffed up. The boy was caught using stand over tactics over an 8 year of the extended family. The victim was was subjected to physical abuse. is absolutely traumatised, soiling himself and fear of his own family home. To cut the story short the mother of had enrolled her two sons in a holiday camp programme two months ago. The guardian and useless cyfs worker decided to send the perpetrator to the same camp knowing full well these boys would be attending needless to say the mother pulled her sons out because there was a serious safety issue. So I guess if you're a good kid you suffer and if you're a bad arse bully you get the world. Cyfs get your bloody head out of the touchy touch feely cloud and do your jobs. No wonder they've been getting bad press. There should have been consequences for unacceptable and illegal actions not treats.

BIG THUMBS DOWN to that too, Koko. Yep, NZ needs to get this right. This is what is wrong with bullying in schools too. The bullies get to stay and they bullied get yanked out, lose their safe environment and friends etc.

Cradle to early grave By LANE NICHOLS - The Dominion Post | Tuesday, 06 January 2009
More than 350 children and young people whose safety or welfare had been brought to Child, Youth and Family's attention have died since 2000.
Children's commissioner Cindy Kiro says many of the deaths were preventable.
Some died from suicide, abuse, assaults by parents or caregivers, neglect and shootings. Most died from natural causes, medical complications or accidents, including vehicle crashes, fires, falls and drownings.
Last year, Dr Kiro carried out a review of the deaths and she criticised CYF social workers for not focusing enough on at-risk children. The review found "gaps" in information provided to her office and triggered a new focus on neglect by parents and caregivers.
Dr Kiro said she was frustrated by the significant number of preventable child deaths through violence, neglect, injury or suicide.
Though CYF had dealt with some issues identified in her review, it needed to do more to protect high-risk children it was notified about. "I want to see more impetus and focus ... because that's where I think we can save the lives of a lot more children.
"It's immensely frustrating and it makes me feel sometimes angry that we can't and don't do more."
Figures in Dr Kiro's 2008 annual report show her office was notified by CYF of 86 deaths last financial year alone a large increase on the previous year.
A further 271 deaths were reported between 2000 and 2007.
All the dead children were known to CYF through notifications of concern or suspected child abuse, though only a small number were in CYF custody.
CYF is defending the figures, saying it investigated all child abuse notifications, but many warranted no further action.
"We know about them, but it might just be a phone call that's made about a kid who's driving fast down the road," a spokesman said.
Numerous children referred to its care had pre-existing medical conditions.
About 50 children have died since 2000 while in CYF care, four from violence or abuse.
Social Development Minister Paula Bennett refused to comment on the numbers, saying only that any child's death was tragic. She would work with Dr Kiro on child advocacy issues.
Dr Kiro's review last year criticised CYF social-worker practices, and found "significant issues around supervision and chronic neglect" by some parents and caregivers, especially in cot death cases.
She said children notified to CYF were dying from the same causes as other children but were a higher-risk group. "So there's going to be an increased proportion of them who will die from physical assault, injury or other violence categories."
Generally when children died through deliberate violence or neglect, most were aged under five, not known to CYF officials and from families with intergenerational abuse. The rate of child assault deaths had been falling since the mid-1990s.
The number of reported cases of potential child abuse jumped from 40,939 notifications in 2004 to 89,461 last year.
CYF said it was "symptomatic of an increase of public awareness and a growing intolerance of child abuse in society".

Thought you might be interested to read this article koko.
Also my sister in law was telling me over the holidays that she had had a visit from CYFs regarding her younger sister and was asked whether her and my brother could take her in, this was a while back, as my sister in law was working full time at the time along with my brother. My sister in law told the CYFs worker she didn't think that was a very good idea because they were both working full time and wouldn't be able to keep an eye on her and also didn't feel they had the experience to deal with a wayward teenager - having no children of their own. Apparently the CYFs worker became quite agitated and my sister in law felt she was being bullied and made to feel guilty at her decision which was not what the CYFs worker wanted to hear.
Which makes me think about children/youth who are placed with relatives who may not have the experience, patience or who are just not wanting to raise/ care for other family members children. Ideally one would hope that children who are under CYFs can be placed with family members who will love and take care of them. Unfortunately that isn't always the case and family are not the right people to place these kids with.

Thank you for the article Lux. An your summation is right, some family members may not be the most appropriate placement, but I also think that some children are better off in experienced foster care with non family members. At least they'll have a chance.
The young fella is back with his aunt is who at this stage is prepared to make a go at him but I fear that this young lad might revert back to his old habits and then it's back to square one. For his sake and others around him I hope he proves me wrong.

Thumbs down ... spam
A few years ago I would get delightful spam that started: Mr Anna I am X,Y, Z Girl etc and then regale me with what a great time I'd have in going out with this complete stranger. I'm not sure, but I think "Anna" is pretty much a feminine name in most countries. I would also get spam to increase my penis size. This, of course, presupposes that I have a penis.
Lately I've been getting this: It will be impossible not to note the outstanding bulge inside your pants.
Yes. It will be impossible not to note the outstanding bulge inside your pants. I'm not sure if this person realises that I wouldn't be pleased with a "bulge" inside my pants. I would either think I need to increase my exercise or in some parallel universe I had nicked something and stuck it down my grundies.
Not good.

Thumbs down and up:
I got woken up by a telemarketer today. Hubby did the kids and I was having a sleep in. Payback for the seven weeks of looking after them. IT IS MY ONE DAY OFF AND SOME TELEMARKETER RUINED IT. I was not nice to them. Nosiree. In fact: I was downright ghastly.
Then the Homecare man turned up unexpectedly at our back door. He is disabled and drags his leg. Our dog went ballistic and I had to watch in horror as the man tried to run/hop away. I've never seen the dog go that way before. I think it was the leg and the way he dragged it that set the dog off. Oh God. It was awful. The dog has not recovered. I've never seen him act that way before. Said dog is still hiding in his kennel.
