Okay - tell us what you've seen! Your likes, dislikes and so-so movies. How about we rate them as well?
We saw Pirates of the Caribbean today. It was okay. Don't know if I'd rave about it, but it tied everything up.
I'd give it a 5.5/10. My advice? Save your money and wait for it to come out on dvd.

wow, harshness on pirates! that's compelling.. but i dont know if anything can keep me away from johnny!
I saw shrek the third last weekend... it was pretty decent. for me, it didn't live up to the first 2, but the kids liked it. If you have kids... take them. my nephew was glued!

Me too Lux.
I just watched Blood Diamonds on dvd. Hubby and I watched it. I could tell Hubby was engaged by the amount of swearing he did. Great film. Highly recommended. I'd give it an 8/10.
It really makes you think about the price we pay for sparklies on our fingers!

Haven't seen it yet but would like to.
My son and I watched Pink Panther last night, with Steve Martin?...It was so funny...I loved the part when him and his partner were disguised as wallpaper and then got caught and were pretending to be back up dancers...I laughed so hard. It must be very rewarding to be able to make people belly laugh like that. Great movie!

Incredibly tragic. I thought, well presented, though I haven't read up on the Aramoana killings. Very sad indeed.

Okay - seriously - I watched 300 tonight on dvd. Seriously-over-rated. Okay, the buff guys were hot, but I was not impressed with the movie at all. How can you rooster up such an amazing story? We were supposed to go to watch an Ultimate Fight Night tonight. We couldn't go and so decided to get 300. Bad choice!

I'm glad I've seen the movie. I think it is definitely one of those ones that you've got to see.

We watched the Good Shepherd tonight. An interesting movie. Long, complex and a good thriller. Great cast: Matt Damon, Angelina Jolie, Robert De Niro, William Hurt and so on. Worth a look if you like that sort of thing. We were going to get out Hot Fuzz, but missed it! All copies gone. Have to get it next weekend.

Persuasion - Jane Austen. Enough said. We watched an adaptation tonight. It was beautiful. This one was better than the film version made a few years back.

I watched a film called "Provoked" last night. It was very interesting indeed. The film was based around a woman called Kiranjit who kills her husband because she has been abused. This case change the "provocation" laws in Britain. A very interesting film and I would recommend it.

Okay: We watched Hot Fuzz, The Protector (Thai Martial Arts film) and Shooter the other night. Hot Fuzz: slow, dry and a few laugh out loud moments. The end fight sequence is worth the slow pace of the rest of the film.
The Protector: Happily B grade, but the lead actor (Tony Jaa) is absolutely brilliant (if you like martial arts sort of thing). Bad story-line, bad acting, but the fighting sequences and stunts (done by Tony Jaa and without the aid of CGI or wire) outweighs the weaker points of the movie.
Shooter: I liked it. I thought it was a good action movie and evokes the American paranoia about the "enemy" being within. Mark Wahlberg is great as the lead character, Bobby Lee Swagger (geddit, kinda like Harvey Lee Oswald). Good action flick though and nice to see Danny Glover go back to playing a bad boy.

Okay: This weekend we watched Sunshine (average), Mr Bean's Holiday (kids enjoyed it more than I did. He drives me mad. Lol) and Ghost Rider. I enjoyed Ghost Rider, except Nicholas Cage looks so old and I'm pretty sure he's had some "work" done.

Lux: I love that film. I've watched it I don't know how many times. I can never resist it when it's on! Beautiful little film and as for Johnny Depp ... THAT scene is probably one of the hottest scenes EVER in cinema history.

Heres another film festival view 'Life is Beautiful' set in Italy during the war years - English subtitles.
Set in Italy during the 1940's this is a quirky little film, filled with love, laughter and cheek. Really enjoyed this film took a little while to get into but has a fantastic ending which will make you smile.

I watched the "Lives of Others" last night. I highly recommend it. A film about East Germany, 5 years before the fall of the Wall. It is in German and subtitled. A look into the souls of people under constant scrutiny by the State. Very good.
